Definition
A Kenya VAT calculator estimates output VAT, withholding, import cascade VAT, partial exemption recovery, and input−output payable or credit using current standard (16%) and withholding (2%) rates.
Example
Add 16% to KES 1,000 → VAT KES 160 and gross KES 1,160. Or invoice KES 10,000 standard + KES 5,000 zero-rated to see VAT only on the standard line.
VAT in Kenya (Finance Act 2026)
Standard VAT stays at 16%. Start in Simple to add or extract VAT on a price, or build a short invoice that mixes standard, zero-rated, and exempt lines.
Advanced covers withholding (2%), import cascade, partial exemption, digital services, and input−output (payable or credit). Zero-rated is not the same as exempt — only zero-rated usually keeps input recovery.
Rates and schedule notes follow Finance Act 2026 (from 1 July 2026). Confirm classifications and filings with KRA and the VAT Act.
